KiD LoPEz
Once billed as one of house music’s most exciting artists, Jay Walker, AKA Kid Lopez has already seen a residency at Ibiza’s now infamous Manumission and guest appearances at some of the world’s most prestigious nights, including Cream, Miss moneypennys, Slinky, Freedom, Ultra Vegas, Gatecrasher, Wildchild and Fantazia to name but a few. Recently he has seen an 8-gig tour of India, hugely successful trips to the USA, multiple European dates and new residency for UK-based promotion Overdose. All this plus numerous guest spots all over the UK have meant a hectic schedule for this lover of all things house. In the studio, things are going from strength to strength, with recent huge tracks such as ‘Ever Fallen In Love’, Good Times’, ‘High’ and ‘Sine Time’ all hitting the top of the online download charts. Jay has also signed his two chunky housers ‘Good Times’ (Top 20 Mixmag) and ‘The Look’ to the exciting UK-based Wallop label. His superb track ‘Life’ has been signed to Connect, and his interpretation of the 1979 Change classic ‘Angel (in my pocket)’ has already rocketed to ‘Anthem’ status from only a handful of white labels. Perhaps Jays biggest success story to date is his remix of Michael Gray’s ‘Weekend’. Since being played on Radio 1 by Steve Lawler on Pete Tong’s Essential Selection, this has fast become one of the scenes most prolific tracks. New projects are well underway, with his trademark sound of dirty basslines, chugging tribal beats and dubby vocals being used to take the musical connoisseur to another level. His remixing talents have certainly been in huge demand recently, and he is currently working on various projects for labels such as Defected, Global, Player and Harlem here in the UK, whilst US-based labels Funktion and Groove On are also commissioning mixes. His recent remixes of Above and Beyond’s ‘Alone Tonight’ and the Trophy Twins’ tracks ‘Anarchism’ and ‘Ill Experience’ have gone down a storm and are amongst this decades biggest UK releases. His mix of Soul Avengerz’ ‘100%’ hit the Buzz charts at number 2 and his take on their single ‘Been robbed’ has also gone down a storm. His currently unreleased mixes of the Bombdogs ‘I can’t explain’ and Black Box’s ‘Everybody’ are also doing serious damage to some of clublands more underground dance floors. His energetically unique and innovative DJ’ing style is a truly mind-blowing visual experience – with a fusion of chunky tech-house, tribal-esque beats and electro-funk grooves, all mixed seamlessly and with true showmanship – this is one set that you dare not miss. All this and a fun, crazy character to match, Jay Walker has fast become… One of The industry’s freshest and most exciting talents.

DaySleepers
Having DJ’ed since the age of 15, DaySleepers or Tim has had one of the worst music habits and he just can’t kick it. Starting off on CD, then back to Vinyl (as CD was not cool) Tim DJ’ed up and down the UK and over overseas. Settling down in Norwich Tim took up residency and co-promoter for a night called Unique Music. Unique or UM went from a very small 200 capacity venue on to book the likes of Chris Lake, Dom Kane, King Unique and Moussa Clarke, playing to large crowds and generally getting over-involved. UM was to have a three year stint until it dispanded and everyone went their own ways. Taking a break from the scene to catch up on some sleep and generally try and catch up with friends that had got disowned along the way Tim found himself thinking about running another night…. The promoter bug was itching, and it needed a firm scratch. So Elev-8 was born, more parties where held… more DJ’s came and played, including Noir of Noir Records (Denmark). But as with all things the market got saturated, the scene died out a little. Along the way Tim produced a good number of tunes with interest from labels and the odd signing here and there. As time went on, Tim got back into the scene playing for a now long established night called Overdose, now with a years residency under his belt it is DaySleepers has truly found his home.
